Wonderful Weekend!

It was a great weekend! We were all finally feeling better, thank goodness. Maia and Daddy even made it back to Little Gym on Saturday morning, after a month of missing it. They had a great time, as always. After their class, we ventured out to get Daddy some stylin' new glasses. Maia loved the optician's, and had a great time picking out some funky frames for Mommy and Daddy. She was a bit disappointed we couldn't actually take any of the frames home, but... We spent the rest of Saturday hiding from the downpours, and cleaning up the house a bit. And later that afternoon, the train brought Uncle Adam and Samantha! Hooray!

Mommy and Daddy got to have date night, and Maia got to hang out with two of her very favorite people. By all accounts, Adam and Sam did a masterful job at taking care of Maia and the Grittster. There were flying baby Shreks, building with cool blocks, delicious dinner, lots of books, and finally... sleep. We're still working on Maia going to bed with anyone other than Mommy, so we hear there was a bumpy moment or two, but Uncle Ad is a pro and handled it perfectly. (Boy is he getting in some good practice in case he ever has kids!) Mommy and Daddy had a lovely dinner out, and then got to help our dear friend Doug celebrate his 40th birthday with a surprise party. It was a great night!

Yesterday found us all up way too early! Mommy signed Mommy and Daddy up to take a Natural Childbirth class that began at 8am. Cruelly, it turned out to be daylight savings, making it "really" 7am. A sticky bun and coffee from our bakery cheered Daddy, Maia and Uncle Ad (poor Mommy!), and the day took a big turn for the better. The glorious sunshine helped too!

After a great breakfast, Uncle Ad and Sam took Maia and Gritty to the playground! It was cold outside, but finally dry enough to actually enjoy it. Maia loves the swings, and true to form, spent most of the time they were there delightfully swinging. (She HATED swings until last Summer. Each time we were around them, we would try to put her in one and she would scream and cry and demand to be taken out, even as a baby! And then, magically one day, she asked to swing and has been an addict ever since.) Uncle Ad and Sam also did an amazing job of tiring out Gritty. He didn't even lift his head in greeting when Mommy and Daddy got home.

We drove Ad and Sam back to their neck of the woods, stopping on the way for some delicious brunch at one of Mommy and Daddy's favorite restaurants. (Brunch is a good meal out for diabetics! Lots of delicious choices made with mostly eggs and veggies!) Maia took a mini-nap in the car on the way home, but woke up as soon as we parked and had no interest in going back to sleep. Instead, she begged to go back to the playground and the swings! After sitting in class all morning, then in the car and the restaurant, Mommy and Daddy were only too happy to oblige. We went for a great walk in the sun, and ended up back at the swings. Maia loved having Daddy push her, though Gritty thought it was unfair that he couldn't run with the other doggies while Daddy was otherwise occupied.

When we got home, Maia and Daddy broke out the parachute and the tea set for some more playtime while Mommy made some yummy veggie stir-fry for dinner. They had a great time, and Maia was exhausted by the time we finally made it to bed. It was great to get to spend so much time with Daddy this weekend!!!!

And here's a photo from last week of Maia in pigtails... they lasted almost 3 whole hours!!!
