Yesterday started off with Maia and Daddy's usual activity of Little Gym. They had a wonderful time, as always. Besides being a great way for them to spend time together, it's also a great time for Maia to spend with kids closer to her own age. She always comes home with amusing stories of her various friends. Yesterday she told me all about JJ forgetting to do a somersault, just like she forgot to do one. Silly kids!
After LG, Maia and Daddy ran some very important errands- buying much needed dog food, and picking up Daddy's "Smokin'" new glasses. For years, Daddy has wanted prescription sunglasses. He finally got some when Maia was born, but they were freebies and he was never really psyched about them. So when his presciption changed drastically, we figured it was a good investment. He picked out some very cool Oakleys, and really did get Maia to tell him he looks "Smokin'" when he put them on. The optician was suitably amused! After a quick stop for a Mango smoothie, Maia and Daddy came home. The rest of the day was spent cleaning the house, walking Gritty, and trying to convince Maia to go to sleep so Mommy and Daddy could have Game Night. It was pretty much a success on all fronts. Maia got a great night's sleep, and Mommy and Daddy had a laughter-filled evening with wonderful friends.
And very kindly, Maia slept until 7am this morning. Woo woo! We came downstairs and she caught site of a few eggs hidden in the living room.... it's safe to say she's a BIG fan of the Easter Bunny. She had a wonderful time looking for eggs with Daddy, and was thrilled to discover they were filled with... Goldfish! Yum! Here are some shots from the hunt...
After a yummy breakfast, and lots of coffee for the parents, we got dressed for our big kid hunt... We live on a wonderful little one-way street, tucked away in a wonderful little city. We have fabulous neighbors, and are surrounded by lots of kids. Maia is quite literally the only girl on the street (until Evie makes her debut!) but she never hesitates mixing it up with the big boys. Some of the neighborhood Mommies organized an outdoor egg hunt in our little park. 7 kids ranging in age from 2 1/2 (Maia) to 10 had a great time looking for eggs in the sunshine. The bigger kids were terrific at helping out the littler ones, and all-in-all it was a major success.Our other excitement for the day was taking Gritty to the groomers and going grocery shopping. Normally, Mommy and Maia do the shopping during the week, but lately Mommy's been having a hard time carrying the insanely heavy bags of groceries out of the cart, into the car, and then into the house. No matter how many times I ask the clerks not to pack the bags so heavy, they always do. And so, we're doing our shopping on Sunday with Daddy's assistance. It's a great help, and it's a fun treat for Maia to race around the store with Daddy while Mommy tries to make sure we get everything on the list. After our shopping, we headed home for lunch. And then Daddy went to get Gritty while I tried to convince Maia to take a nap. No go on the nap, but Gritty came home looking (and smelling) quite handsome, and very pleased with himself.
Finally, Maia took a bath to get ready for Easter dinner at the home of one our wonderful neighbors. She had a great time in the tub, especially when she realized a little duck boat Nonni and Poppa gave her for Christmas actually works in the water. Woo woo! Washing her hair was traumatic, as it has been lately, but she recovered when she got wrapped up in her awesome new Elephant towel. She's finally gotten too big for her infant hooded towels... luckily, there's another kiddo all lined up to use them!
