Our very dear friends, Teddy, Gingy, Reggie, and their parents were away from July 1 - 10. We missed them while they were gone, and were so happy to make plans for a special adventure on Monday. We loaded everyone into the car late in the morning, and drove on up to one of our favorite seaside towns, Portsmouth. We enjoyed a FABULOUS early lunch at our most favoritest restaurant, The Friendly Toast. (KD Lang was sitting two table s away from us. It was cool. She was cool. She was so cool that we would have felt like complete idiots doing anything other than pretending not to know who she is.) After we finished our insanely yummy food, the kids happily agreed to a photo on their favorite crazy couch.
From Portsmouth, we kept going North to York Wild Animal Kingdom. I've been wanting to go there for years, and it seemed like a perfect day to make the trek. It was here that Maia had an all-too-familiar-from-my-own-childhood experience: she was too tall to go on any of the kiddie rides. She was only about an inch (or less) above the maximum height line, but much to everyone's dismay the people running the rides were absolute sticklers. We let Cec and Gingy ride a few, and they enjoyed every moment.

And then we bid goodbye to the rides and headed over to the animals!
Our first stop was some very hungry ducks...
We saw some flying monkeys, some insanely adorable goats, lions, tigers, but no bears oh my. And then we got to feed some deer... watch out Gingy!
Cecily thought it was the most awesome thing ever.
Maia was a little nervous, but rallied and got right into it.
After leaving the deer, we were reminded we were no longer in a feed-the-animals area when we reached the llamas.
They also had a sweet butterfly house, though the kids were most interested in the baby alligators.
We were all very tired and very happy after our long adventure and packed up and headed home. We are so glad to have our friends home!
