Welcome!

Welcome to our new blog! Dear friends of ours have been keeping a blog for their daughter since last fall. It is an amazing record of her life, and we are inspired to attempt something of the kind. (What teenager, or parent of a teenager, wouldn't want to read about her daily toddler adventures when times are crazy?!) We'll try to update it as often as possible, so check back when you have a free moment and need some smiles.

It's been a crazy week in our little house. It began last Sunday with the momentous occasion of the Superbowl. Anyone who knows us knows first, we love football! Second, we love the Patriots! Each Sunday (and let's be honest, there weren't many this year with the NFL continually trying to push the Pats into primetime, way past a toddler's, and I'll be honest again, a pregnant Mommy's, bedtime) we would all head to our cozy family room with a bowl of Pirate's Booty and Maia's football shirt to watch the Pats. Maia very quickly came to love this ritual, particularly when Daddy taught her how to sack him just like the big footballers. (This is hilarious to see, and makes us very proud of our little girl, except when she breaks it out at our parent-child class at the Waldorf school!) So you can imagine the excitement surrounding the Pats on the brink of a perfect season. Maia and Daddy even broke out their matching jerseys.
Unfortunately, our big plan to let Maia stay up a little late to watch history in the making was thwarted when we learned she was scheduled to visit her possible preschool for next year the following morning. Not wanting to have a ridiculously overtired toddler to meet the teachers, etc., we decided she could watch until half an hour after her normal bedtime. Sadly, this would mean that Mommy wouldn't get to watch the whole shebang with Daddy. Ahh, the sacrifices we make as parents. Luckily, some other dear friends (Giants fans, no less!) invited us to their home to watch the game. We all had a fabulous time... well, for a little while. Maia loved playing with the other kids, and even managed to cheer at just the right moments. Daddy loved the pretty big screen and the booming surround sound... until Brady got sacked. And sacked again. We were ahead when Maia and Mommy headed home... Poor Daddy. He still hasn't recovered. He played a "therapy" rematch on his XBox, but it didn't seem to help. He blasted Tom Petty hoping Petty wouldn't be ruined forever. Sadly, he still might be. How do you recover when the one team you thought you could always count on disappoints in the biggest possible way???
More adventures to be recounted soon!
