Weeks of Woe

I'm sorry it's been so long since our last post! February has been... more than we bargained for!

Is Mercury still in retrograde?! At the beginning of the month, we had a lovely family brunch with some of our local relatives and a visiting cousin. Mommy's aunt casually asked if any of us had been having any bad luck lately. We all chuckled politely and answered in the negative. She explained that she had been having all kinds of bad things happening to her, and that once she learned Mercury was in fact in retrograde, she felt confident of the cause. The fact, however, that no one else was having bad luck, well... that dampened her theory.

Well dear Auntie, we're having plenty of bad luck now! Mommy got sick on February 8, nearly three weeks ago! I'm finally back near functional, thank goodness. We had a lovely, albeit brief, visit with Nonni, Poppa, and Maia's uncles and auntie. Then... Maia got sick, really sick, 105 degree fever sick. After 6 days, we finally have the fever under control, but... she's still really sick, poor kid. In the midst of fever panic, Daddy went out to get supplies... and found that two of our tires had been slashed. Clearly we've upset the Universe in some major way. We cried Uncle on Sunday, and brought Nonni back to town to take care of us. She did an amazing job of cooking and nursing us back to health... until she sliced her finger open on a can and had to go to the Emergency Room for stitches. And then... Daddy came home from work with his own fever.

We're not sure what to do about our string of bad luck, other than to hope it comes very quickly to an end... and to recommend that any potential visitors stay far, far away! Here's hoping we're all healthy and back to our adventures ASAP!!!!!
