June is off to a lively start! But first, two special photos from May. On Friday the 13th, I got to spend the morning with Maia at school at her final Spring Tea (sniff, sniff. I can't believe my baby is moving up to Lower El)! She looked so grown up with her funky glasses, her missing tooth, and her beautiful smile. We had a wonderful time. It was such a treat to have some special time with her and to see how incredibly much she's grown since our first Spring Tea. I'm fairly certain there will be some tea house adventures in our future...
In early June (the 5th to be exact), our very good friends Teddy and Gingy welcomed their new brother, Reggie! We've been waiting and waiting for him to arrive. Cecily and I were thrilled to visit him in the hospital. (It's almost impossible for me to believe that my two grown-up girls were ever that tiny!) Cecily was incredibly excited to hold Reggie and give him a thorough (and adoring) examination.
Look at those little toes!
Reggie is just a little over 12 hours old in this photo...
We had such a great time visiting him, and are so excited to welcome him to the square!
The other highlight of that first week in June was Maia's Kindergarten play, the Dance of the Cosmos. Maia's kindergarten class has been preparing for the play for months, (Maia could be heard singing bits and pieces of songs from the show at all times!), so we were seriously excited to see the finished product. It was fabulous!
Some original art to decorate the stage...
The planets and stars get ready to tell of their beginnings...
Here is our little Saturn, joining in the dance...
The planets revolving around the sun...
Maia tells us all about Saturn! (On a side note, Maia made Saturn her favorite planet some time ago. She was thrilled when she got to BE Saturn in the play!)
Saturn and her rings journey around the sun.
A silly song about the man in the moon, the big dipper, and the milky way...
"We're going to the Moon on the second day of June. Oh what shall I bring along?"
"My sister and some food, that's what I'll bring along."
The whole cast and their curtain call.
And a final shot of our beautiful Saturn.
And not a week after the play, Maia had her last day of Kindergarten! It's hard for this momma to believe I'll have a first grader in just a few months! Maia's three years in children's house were magical and amazing and so special. We are awed by how much she's grown and learned and experienced. We are so grateful for her amazing school and her amazing teachers! Kindergarten, in particular, was an incredible experience and journey. We're so excited to see what comes next. And we can't believe Cec will start children's house in just a few short months. (My new favorite cliche: the days are long, the years are short. Can't imagine a more fitting saying for raising kids.)
Thank you Alison. We'll miss you!
