Rochester!

Our road trip led us to... Noni and Papa's house in Rochester!  We spent our first afternoon relaxing and recovering from our long ride (the kids were amazing during the ride, hooray!). We played and played, and then Papa made us a delicious dinner.  Both kids devoured it before we put them to bed.  Daddy and I then headed out to find a sports bar showing the Bruins playoff game.  We didn't have to go far, and we had a great time watching the Bruins defeat Montreal.

Sunday morning was beautiful and sunny.  Noni and Papa's house is right across the street from an amazing park  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highland_Park,_Rochester,_New_York), and we headed out to explore.  (As I've mentioned before, Maia's favorite tv show is Toot & Puddle. In one episode they visit Paris.  While there they discover berets, and then wear them all over the city.  Maia asked a few times for a beret- I promised her Noni would have many to choose from.  And sure enough, Maia remembered and requested a beret to go exploring.  She wore it the entire week.)

Ready to walk and explore:
Maia was thrilled to find so many flowers blooming- she wanted to stop and examine each and every one:
A lovely little walk within the park:
Maia was delighted when Noni showed her how to climb a tree:
She really liked sitting amongst the branches:
And then there were rocks to climb...

Cec slept for a big chunk of the walk, but woke up in time to explore some really cool trees with excellent bark...
We spent the rest of the day playing- playing with toys, playing the piano, playing with Noni and Papa's pets.  We had another fabulous dinner, during which our exhausted kids nearly fell asleep at the table.  We put them to bed, and then did something we've only done twice since Maia was born... we went to a movie... in a movie theatre... with popcorn and everything!  We went to see State of Play and it was terrific.  It was a great start to a great week.
