Maia is three... and she already knows how to work the system! A little background-- Maia got to celebrate her birthday twice... we opened presents and had a special birthday breakfast the day before we left on vacation. And then we celebrated in the ADK with all kinds of fun and an ice cream cake. Daddy and I debated if we should have a party for her at home, but decided she'd celebrated enough. Enter Maia's opinion... we were relaxing last Sunday evening when she turned to me and said: "Mom, when is my friends birthday party?" I stared for a moment and then got it together to ask what she meant. (After all, it was within the realm of possibility that she was expecting a friend to celebrate a birthday...) She patiently explained that she needed to know when she was going to have a party with her friends to celebrate her birthday. Ahhh... smart kid!
And so, Mommy overruled Daddy's objections and scheduled a small gathering to celebrate Maia becoming a "threenager" (our neighbor's brilliant description for the delightful age of three. Terrible twos? Nah, those were nothing. Three is where it's really at!). As you can see from the photos below, a fabulous time was had by all...
