38 Weeks!

We made it to 38 weeks! Hooray! Just another two, maybe three, weeks until we can meet our new baby. She's getting stronger every day (lots of pushing and kicking these days!), and sounds great at each of our appointments. We can't wait for her to make her grand debut!


Last week was filled with gorgeous weather, guaranteeing great moods all around! The highlight for Maia was the addition to our yard of a sandbox:

We thought about getting one last year, but never managed to make it happen. Silly Mommy and Daddy! Kids LOVE sandboxes. Maia has been having a blast in there, building sandcastles, sifting the sand, bulldozing. She invited Colin over one day, and they had a wonderful time... though there was a tad too much sand coming out of the box!

Maia is also very interested in playing with the big kids in our neighborhood, which will of course involve riding a bike. We've practiced a little, and she was thrilled to get to ride around on this cool contraption:
Of course, we need to get her a helmet ASAP as we're clearly violating the neighborhood rules!

On Friday, Maia slept a little too late to get to see Daddy before he left for work. She was very disappointed when she woke up. Mommy asked her what she wanted to do that day, and her answer was "Let's visit Daddy and go to the Aquarium!" Excellent idea. So we trekked on into the city. We had a lovely visit with Daddy, complete with our favorite morning snack of a bagel and cream cheese:

We also got to visit Daddy's office, where Maia was thrilled to say hello to his friends and check her email. The promise of the Aquarium lured her away, and off we went.

It was the last Friday of April vacation... Mommy figured the Aquarium would be more crowded than usual, but also assumed with the gorgeous weather it wouldn't be insane. Boy was I wrong!!!! The line for regular entrants was over 1 and 1/2 hours long! We're members... and the line for members was over 1/2 hour long. Besides not wanting to wait in line, this prego Mommy didn't want to worry about keeping track of a speedy two and a half year old in such a gigantic crowd. We watched the seals for a while, and then with promises to come back at our first chance, and possibly some ice cream, we headed off to explore some other areas of the city.

We picked up some delicious chocolate ice cream, and sat in the sun enjoying every bite. We walked around for a bit, and then headed home. Sadly, Maia refused to take a nap, making for a longer afternoon than I'd hoped. We took Grittster for a great walk, had a yummy dinner, and an early bedtime.

We had a lovely, relaxing weekend. Everyone seems to be on alert for the baby to arrive, (though she seems quite content hanging out in Mommy's belly!), so we didn't venture too far. It was great to just enjoy being home in the Spring.
