Cec turned sixth months old last Saturday! (And Uncle Adam hit 25 and 1/2! Woo woo!) It's unbelievable to me that she's already 6 months. How did we let this happen?! Maia and I took her in for her sixth month check-up today. Cec did wonderfully! She weighs 15 lbs. 2 ozs., and is 26 1/2 inches tall. (She's in the 75th percentile for height and the 13th percentile for weight. Our doctor feels fine about her weight, as she's been growing steadily and hasn't been dropping down in the percentiles. And she certainly comes by her height honestly!) We were all sad at the end of the appointment when Cec got her shots- no fun for Mommies, Babies, or big sisters. Maia was incredibly sweet with her, rubbing her arms and back and covering her in kisses as I calmed her down. She recovered remarkably well, and spent the rest of the afternoon playing and trying peas before crashing from sheer exhaustion. (She's sharing my cold, lucky kid.)
The photo at the top of the post (for some unknown reason, blogger wants me to write anything above it in blue and underlined and so I'm writing it down here) is from Election Day!!!!! Daddy and I took the girls down to our local polling place bright and early. We wanted Maia to see us vote, and figured it would be more fun if we went all together. We were a bit surprised to find a long line winding out the door and around the building, but were delighted for Maia to see so many excited voters. It was an amazing day, as were the days that followed. Maia very clearly knows who the next President will be, cheering his name and recognizing photos of him everywhere. We listen to NPR each morning on the way to school, and each time she hears "Obama" she reacts: "Mommy, they're talking about Barack Obama the next President." Yes they are, kiddo, yes they are.
The day after the election, Maia took her first swimming lesson sans parent. She's a big three year old now, and really, really wanted to take them. So... off we went. (Should I mention we showed up the previous week, dressed and ready to swim, only to realize it didn't start until the following week? Oh the tears and the suffering. It was a looong afternoon, saved by a playdate!) Maia LOVED it. Her teacher is wonderful, and she had a fabulous time swimming around with the other kids, jumping off the side, and trying to remember not to talk while she swims so she doesn't swallow the whole pool. It's pretty hilarious to see.
Our goofy girl:

Cec and I go to Music Together on Thursday mornings while Maia is at school. We love it, but it does present a bit of a schedule hiccup- we drop Maia off at school between 8:15 and 8:25. MT is at 9:30, about 5 minutes away. Cec is ready for a nap by the time we say goodbye to Maia, so from 8:30 - 9:30 we drive around and Cecily sleeps. MT ends around 10:15, leaving us an hour and 15 minutes before we have to pick Maia up. Cec generally isn't ready for another nap yet, and it would be pointless to go all the way back home... Sometimes we go for walks, sometimes we run to a grocery store, and sometimes, like when it's raining, we drive to Maia's school and play in the car until she's released:

We had another very busy weekend, filled with lots of fun and adventure. It started with Maia's ballet class (Cec and Daddy didn't have swimming this week, as our Y hosted a gigantic swim meet). She was in heaven once again:

And here are some sweet photos of Cec:

And a cute one of her big sis:

Anabelle is three weeks and one day older than Cecily. We love getting to see her (and her big bro, Nathaniel, and their Mommy), at music class each week. Here are the cuties enjoying their egg shakers:

Now that Cecily is a big six-month-old, she can ride in the backpack. (Mommy's back, neck, and shoulders say Hooray!) She loves the view and seems even more excited about our walks with Gritty these days:

And it tastes delicious.
