Fairs and Playgrounds

Papa is here for a visit, much to everyone's delight.  Maia was thrilled when she got home from school on Monday and Papa arrived in time for lunch.  We had a lovely afternoon catching up and playing.  Maia was thrilled to show her school to Papa on Tuesday morning when we dropped her off.  She gave us a brief tour of the classroom, showed us some of her work, and introduced him to her teachers and friends.  Papa and I took Cec and Grittster for a walk while Maia was at school, and then we picked her up and went on an adventure...

to the fair!  There's a huge fair just a few towns over from us.  Maia and I have gone each year since we moved here, and we always have a wonderful time.  Papa was game, so we grabbed some lunch at our favorite restaurant and headed to the fair.  Maia loved seeing all the animals:

Hey it's cows!
The highlight of the fair was without a doubt the Musical Ride by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.  It was awesome... the horses and their riders were amazing, and did some spectacular tricks and moves.  Maia loved, loved, loved it:
I thought Cec was probably a wee bit young, but she watched with rapt attention:

Maia and Papa had a chance to meet some of the performers:
Daddy and Grampy should be proud:
Today was one of those gorgeous, crisp, clear fall days that makes sticky summers and freezing winters completely worth it.  After school and a looooong lunch (how can it take someone over an hour to eat 1/2 a bagel?!) we headed to one of our favorite playgrounds.  Cecily got her first experience in a swing, and loved it:

Maia got in some good climbing:
After all that swinging, Cec was wiped out:
Maia made some sweet friends, and they had a blast running around:

We ventured down to the beach near the playground:

It was a great afternoon!!!!!
